BAR 314 travel to Branksome Celtic tomorrow morning (10.30am) for a Sunday Inter-mediate Cup second round replay, aiming to become the eighth Carpets Direct Weymouth Premiership side to reach the third round stage.
But the former George, Portland outfit will have to overcome the loss of three influential players if they are to progress to the final 16 of the competition, and earn a home tie against the conquerors of Galaxy Windows – the Railway Hotel.
Left-back Joe Garmen and centre-back Ben Lever are both set to miss out due to family commitments while midfielder Jerry McAthery (work) is another key absentee.
Fortunately for Bar the defence will be bolstered by the welcome return of Keith Hills following two weeks of illness while hopes remain high that midfield lynchpin James Vincent could feature having struggled with a knee injury for the last month.
Back in Weymouth, struggling three-times champions the Belvedere are still looking for their first win of the season in the Premiership and, following last weekend’s disappointing cup upset at the hands of the Rodwell, a win would still seem unlikely for Graham Kington’s fledgling side against fourth-placed Tuatara.
The sides meet at Budmouth with the T-bar oozing confidence following last Sunday’s 5-3 cup triumph over Harbourside, but Kington believes that the match provides another chance for his young charges to begin gelling with the older heads.
A possible boost for the Belve could be the return to action of striker Paul Cole, who has recovered from a broken toe, but the growing list of injury doubts will be a worry.
Centre-back Matt Austin (thigh) is sure to be out of action until the New Year while midfielder Ricky Newman (hamstring), left-back Leighton Hanson (ankle) and striker Tony Wyatt (groin) are all doubtful The visitors will also be without instrumental midfielder Noddy Coan who is still on holiday.
FC WindowMan take on the Dor-othy, also at Budmouth, with at least six first-team regulars missing as suspensions begin to mount up for the league leaders.
Although manager Adam Parker hopes to welcome back Phil Lee and Russell North, who both missed last week’s cup win over Three Cross, he is still without injured Wayne Day.
Anthony Luque, Nicky Abbot, Ryan Loader, Matt Brown and Martin Masson are serving out bans.
Finally, Championship front-runners Duke AFC – who surprisingly went down to their first defeat of the season last week against the Punchbowl – will be without both Ollie Coe and Dave Washington when they face the Market House.
Boss Damion Maston said: “Norton Rogers impressed in his debut last week and has earned a place in the starting XI. The House have had some decent results lately so we know we need to perform better than last week to come away with the points.”
