Portland Amateur Boxing Club is gearing up for its December show.

For the last three years the show at the Working Men’s Club has been sold out so the club has decided to move its show to Osprey Leisure Centre.

The club ran its May show as a dry run which proved a success with those who watched it.

The club has gone from strength to strength with many new faces entering the squared ring for the first time and there will be no less than 10 boxers on show from Portland.

Carla Nash, the first female boxer for the island outfit, will compete and Liam Simpson will be taking on the three times Welsh national champion as bouts in the south have dried up for the talented youngster.

Matches (Portland unless stated): Taylor Wakefield v Harry Howard (St Just, Cornwall), Richie Sharpe v Jesse Douglas (Stacy, Hampshire), Luke Alder v Carl Hammick (Penhill, Wiltshire), Liam Simpson v Rhys Glishmere (Barry, Wales), Tom Gardiner v Lewis Kerley (Bournemouth), Carla Nash v Kirsty Howard (St Just, Cornwall), Niall Petchey v Fungai Chiwoko (Bournemouth), John Moore v Dan Sutcliffe (St Just, Cornwall), Andy McGivern v Danny Harris (Penhill, Wiltshire), Mike Carew v Danny Hutchins (Stacy, Hampshire).

Portland favourites Marcin Fojt, Josh Ellis, Paul Elborn, Jack Carter, Mikey Elborn, Anthony Randall, George Preston and Aaron Pryer are injured and must pass late fitness tests before they can be included in the show.
