Hutch feels guilty over Roy's dismissal

WEYMOUTH manager Ian Hutchinson said he feels a pang of guilt after good friend Roy O’Brien was axed as Dorchester manager just hours after the Terras dumped the Magpies out of the FA Trophy.

The two former team-mates were in opposite dugouts as a Wessex Stadium crowd of over 1,000 saw Jake Reid, Josh Llewellyn and Simon Radcliffe secure a 3-0 win for the home side.

O’Brien was relieved of his duties soon after and then replaced by Ashley Vickers, the Irishman’s assistant-boss, on a caretaker basis.

Hutchinson said: “You don’t like to see anyone lose their job, especially when it is a friend, and I feel a little guilty as his last game was against us.

“Roy is a strong character so he’ll bounce back. Obviously he’s a bit down at the moment but he’ll come back better for it.

“It’s been an experience for him, he’ll put it down to that, and if he decides to go down the route of management he’ll come back better.”

The Terras’ derby day joy was rewarded with a tie against Blue Square Premier side Salisbury City in the first round proper, a draw which delighted Hutchinson.

He said: “It’s against a Conference club at home and sort of a local derby, so I’m very pleased and it’s a reward for all the hard work the boys put in against Dorchester.

“We will go into the game fully prepared to take them all the way.

“We’ll have a look at them and see what they are about.

“They have financial problems as well, but let’s concentrate on the things on the pitch and hopefully give them a good game.”

The Terras are without a game on Saturday but travel to Gillingham Town in the Dorset Senior Cup on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
