TWO more independent Dorchester-based companies have joined the Dorchester Town Supporters’ Trust as corporate partners.

Dorset Water Company and Brightsparks have become members of the community co-operative this month, taking the Trust’s corporate partners portfolio up to 10.

Brightsparks’ owner Ross Moors said: “We’ve been long-term supporters of the football club and we were happy to join the Trust.

“We believe that the aims of getting the local community more involved in the club and giving the fans a say in the running of the club is the natural progression for the Magpies to move forwards.

“When you see what supporters trusts have achieved at Exeter and Wimble-don, it was an easy decision to join the Dorchester Town Supporters Trust.”

Dorset Water Company owner Tim Limbach echoed those sentiments.

He added: “Supporters’ trusts have a huge role to play in non-League football and I was happy to lend my support to the Magpies’ Trust.

“The Dorchester economy relies on local, independent businesses and I share the Trust’s view that the football club is a great vehicle for bringing together local people and local businesses.”

Having only formally launched in the summer, it was announced recently that the Trust will have a representative on the club’s board of directors in treasurer Neal Butterwoth.

Trust Chairman John Greenslade said: “The fact that we have obtained a significant amount of shares in the club and have gained a seat on the board is testament to how far we have come in such a short amount of time.

“We could not have achieved that without the support of our membership.”
