Dozen trophies for angling ace Mears

OLIVER Mears collected 12 trophies as West Bay Angling Club enjoyed their presentation dinner at Highlands, Eype.
Mears’ haul included the Clubman Shield for the member who has best supported the club throughout the year based on attendance at all organised activities.
Forty-nine members and guests enjoyed a meal, in which president Fred Bowditch thanked members for their contribution over the year.
Bowditch then presented the President’s Cup to junior secretary Roger Guppy (Hoot) for all his hard work with the junior section, which over the years has produced two members for the England team (Mears and Steven Rathbone) and an England squad member (Connor Hallett).
Steven Rathbone was also crowned the individual junior world champion in 2008.
