IMRAAN Ladak has described reports naming George Rolls as Kettering Town’s new investor as “inaccurate”.

Rolls, whose wife Amanda owns the majority shareholding in Weymouth FC, admitted last month to having held talks with the Pop-pies’ chairman but insisted that “no takeover of the troubled club was ever going to materialise”.

Despite that admission, speculation linking the Cambridge-based businessman with the Conference club has failed to cease with Ladak the latest player in the ongoing saga to play down the rumours.

The Kettering chief said: “Clearly there has been a lot of speculation but the reports that appeared on Sunday contained a lot of inaccuracies, which was disappointing.”

Rolls responded to those reports by claiming his family has no intentions of leaving Weymouth any time soon.

He is also understood to have told Terras’ director Nigel Biddlecombe that he is not looking to buy Kettering.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, Weymouth drew 2-2 with Portland United in a friendly at the Bob Lucas Stadium last night.

Ollie Tribe netted at both ends and trialist Mark Ford was also on target as the Terras came from behind twice after Callum Ross-Jennins had given the Blues a half-time lead.

Weymouth boss Brendon King said: “James Coutts got 90 minutes under his belt and Ben Joyce and Mark Ford both looked lively – it was a good workout and a decent display.”
