Division One

BOHO BEARS 33 GW ELECTRICAL 37

GW ELECTRICAL tamed the Bears to win this middle-of-the-table clash.

The Bears took an early lead through excellent shooting from goal-shooter Sarah Collingwood, who kept her composure during some tight defending from GW.

The Bears made a total of four changes for the second quarter, however, this seemed to disrupt their play and GW came more into the game.

Following a superb interception from centre Emma Carter, Electrical took a 19-18 advantage at the end of the first half.

Excellent linkage between Boho’s centre-court players Tina Ironside and Emily Boyce resulted in a last-minute goal in the third quarter to take the score to 28-all with only 15 minutes remaining.

Both teams were feeling the pressure during the final quarter, resulting in crucial mistakes from both sides.

GW were the first to recover from the poor spell, and managed to gain a lead through excellent defending from the circle defence of Hannah Lee and Elaine Sanderson.

To add to Boho’s despair, Collingwood lost balance with the ball and sustained a calf injury, and took no further part in the action.

Unfortunately after this, the Bears seemed unsettled, allowing GW to take full advantage and gain a closely-fought victory.

Division Two

KEMET 24 PARKERS 35

KEMET were looking to maintain their superb form having only been defeated once so far this season.

However, it was Parkers who took the edge in the first half. Parkers’ wing-attack Sam Cooke made some timely interceptions in centre court, providing her shooters with more opportunities at goal.

Her goal-attack Linda Rawcliffe did not let her down, dominating the circle and barely missing any shots.

Kemet made some team changes at half-time in an attempt to get back on track.

Consistent play from Kemet’s goal-attack Sophie Marquis provided her side with the confidence they needed, but Parkers enjoyed the early lead.

Kemet continued to work hard, but the slow start made it impossible to claw their way back, and Parkers were ecstatic with the victory.

Division Three

TOYMASTER 18 STICKLANDS 24

TOYMASTER paid the penalty after failing to convert their attempts at goal despite being the stronger side.

Both sides struggled to find their usual form, however, it was Stick-lands’ goal-keeper Jane Rooks who gave her side the slight edge by making some great turnovers in the shooting circle.

Centre-court play from both sides was fairly even in the second period, however, Toymaster were still struggling to find their usually sharp shooting form.

During the final quarter, Sticklands excelled, edging further ahead.

Toymasters’ centre Sandra Chaplin did not give up, making full use of the court and attempting to gain possession wherever possible.

Despite her valiant efforts, her team were unable to get close to Sticklands, who gained the points.

Division Three

NEW IMAGE 25 LOOSE MOOSE 16

LEADERS New Image took control of the game from an early stage.

Their defence worked well, only allowing newcomers Loose Moose a handful of scoring opportunities.

Image continued to extend their lead, however, brilliant defending from Loose Moose’s goal-defence Donna Redfern kept her side to within five goals and it was 15-10 to Image at the interval.

The third quarter was closely contested but it was New Image, and particularly goal-shooter Sue Bennett, who helped earn a 25-16 victory.
