WEYMOUTH FC will be holding a sponsors’ evening at the Riviera Hotel at Bowleaze Coveway on Friday, June 29.

With the Terras preparing for their first full season under community ownership and main sponsor the Riviera having just reopened following a huge refurbishment project, it is hoped businesses and fans in the area will turn out in full force to help swear in a brave new era for both concerns.

A club statement reads: “This is not only a new chapter for the Riviera Hotel but also for Weymouth FC following a change of ownership at the end of February this year when Nigel Biddlecombe led a local consortium to take over the club from the Rolls family.

“Nigel remains the chairman and along with many local directors has one aim and that is to rebuild the club for the community.

“We are not only looking to retain sponsors for the forthcoming season but we are actively seeking out new ones, and we are already very grateful to the Riviera Hotel for agreeing to become our new main sponsor.

“We would love to see as many people as possible at our sponsors evening on July 29, which will commence at 6.30pm and go on to approximately 11pm.

“There will be a buffet and a chance to meet the new board formally as well as other business people in the area.

“There are many ways to sponsor Weymouth FC. Not only is there large packages available involving kit sponsorship but also advertising in our home programmes, pitch or stand advertising and hospitality packages.

“We are also extremely lucky to have Olympic swimming gold medallist and British Gas Swimming Ambassador Duncan Goodhew as our guest speaker on the night, and he will be joined by our very own ‘King of the Channel’ Mervyn Sharp, who will also give a short presentation on his personal achievements in swimming the English Channel no less than seven times.

“This is a really exciting time for Weymouth FC and we hope you agree and join us on June 29.

"Spaces will be limited so contact the commercial department on 785558, 07968738236 or email commercial@theterras.co.uk in order to reserve your free tickets.”
