DORCHESTER Town paid the price for defensive errors, according to boss Phil Simkin.

The Magpies fell behind at Staines Town after Nathan Walker was caught in possession. And the hosts struck again seven minutes later to put daylight between the two teams.

Charlie Clough closed the gap with a pin-point header on the hour mark and although the county town side pushed forward in search of an equaliser, there was to be no late drama at Wheatsheaf Park.

Simkin said: “We did enough to get something out of the game but we paid the price for defensive mistakes, which is not something we normally suffer from.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t get a result as we totally dominated the second half. We just ran out of time in the end.”

On a more positive note, Simkin was buoyed by the displays of strike partners Ben Watson and Jamie Reid.

He added: “Ben was absolutely terrific and he worked his socks off. Jamie also did exceptionally well and he is going to be a very good player.

“Lewis Morgan did well when he came on, and so did Sam Malsom.”
