JAMES Moorcroft came out on top in the South West of England Karting Championship at the Nigel Mansell Raceway in Devon.

The 14-year-old, who lives in Dorchester and attends Thomas Hardye School , entered the Junior Rotax class at the hotly-contested two-day championship event and came through with flying colours.

Starting from third on the grid in the final race of the series, Moorcroft powered through to take the lead on lap three.

At speeds of up to 70 miles per hour he then fought off some of the best drivers in the south to take the chequered flag at the conclusion of the 15th lap.

Moorcroft would like to thank Vivid Commercial Interiors and Peter Gunning and Partners while special thanks go to Mike and those at the Clay Kart Shop for their support throughout the year.
