CHELTENHAM TOWN LADIES 1 WEYMOUTH LADIES 3

WEYMOUTH Ladies bounced back to form in the South West League Premier Division with a stunning victory at Cheltenham Town.

Following the previous week’s debacle against Bristol Ladies Union, the Terras were keen to make amends.

And they did exactly that with a fine all-round performance despite being without recognised strikers Amy Wild, Philippa Holden, Emma Acott and Amy Laws.

The visitors opted to change from their usual 3-5-2 formation to a 4-1-4-1 system with Georgia Rogers being handed the lone striker’s role.

The Terras settled early and were looking dangerous every time they went forward.

After 25 minutes they eventually took the lead when Jess Turk delivered a pin-point cross which the onrushing Bianca Randall took in her stride and finished brilliantly.

Ten minutes later and it was then 2-0 with Randall turning provider and setting up Amy Douch, who outjumped the Cheltenham keeper to head the ball home.

The Terras were now rampant and had more chances to extend their lead through Rogers, Bryony Webb and Turk.

The second half started with Cheltenham coming forward and on 55 minutes they pulled one back from long range but Weymouth held their nerve.

Ex-Yeovil Town player Karen Perkins came off the bench to make her debut and she helped steady the ship before Turk grabbed a killer third for the visitors with 20 minutes remaining.

Weymouth’s next encounter will see them entertain Frome Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Sunday (2pm).
