Upwey & Broadwey striker Pete Bochonko could be out for up to three weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Upwey forward was forced off in last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat against Portland United Reserves and boss Steve Reynolds is not willing to risk him until he is back fully fit.

He told Echosport: “Pete is hobbling at the moment and he could well be out for two to three weeks.

“You cannot afford to take any gambles with hamstring injuries so we will just have to keep monitoring it.

“Obviously it is a bit of a blow but the good thing is we have plenty of firepower to cover for him in the likes of James Baker and Chris Sweetser-Hawkes, so we should be fine.”

Upwey entertain Stourpaine in the Dorset Senior League tomorrow (3pm) and Reynolds is confident his men will produce the goods.

He added: “They won their first game but they have to come to us and we showed enough in the second half last week to prove we can be a very good side.”

Weymouth Sports will host Blandford United Reserves in their first home game of the season at Cranford Avenue (3pm).

The Royals suffered an 8-2 thrashing at Piddletrenthide United last weekend while Sports drew 2-2 at Okeford United.

Sports’ joint-boss Chris Hicks said: “Obviously we have seen their result from last Saturday but that means nothing.

“We have just got to concentrate on ourselves and with a few lads missing this week it presents a chance for others to come in and show what they can do.

“Ben Thomas, Simon Austin and Mike and Will Sonner are all away, and Ed Bastick has gone back to university, but we have more than capable players to step in and hopefully we can put on another good performance.”

Reigning champions Port-land United Reserves travel to Westland Sports tomorrow (3pm).
