BRIDPORT will be out to set the record straight when they take on local rivals Sherborne Town in FA Vase action tomorrow (3pm).

Despite being relegated from the Toolstation Western Premier Division last season, the North Dorset outfit recorded two wins in three meetings with the Bees.

And heading into tomorrow’s second qualifying round tie at St Mary’s Field, which carries a cash prize of £700, Bridport boss Trevor Senior is determined to come out on top.

He said: “In recent history they have usually come out on top against us, so I want to put that right tomorrow.

“Although we won a tight game 2-1 on Boxing Day last year, they beat us 2-0 towards the end of the season and 4-0 in the Senior Cup.

“It’s a massive game for us as it’s the last national cup competition we are in and there is £700 up for grabs, which always helps.”

Senior, who watched his rivals win 4-0 on Wednesday night, went on to add: “They have picked up quite a few players from Westland Sports, who won the Dorset Premier League last season before disbanding, and although they’ve only played three league games they are unbeaten.

“They have also had a good run in the FA Cup so it’ll be a tough game for us. It’s also a local derby so no doubt they will be up for it. We have to make sure we are up for it as well.

“I’m also hoping to see a big crowd as we have only had two home games so far this season and we’ve been doing pretty well on our travels. Tomorrow should be a cracking cup tie.”

On the subject of team news, the Bees’ chief said: “Jamie Filkins and Matt Condliffe are both unavailable while Russell Legg is suspended for one game.

“On the plus side, Sam Buckler is back from his ban and we’re hoping his brother Max will be fit as well as he’s been struggling with his shin of late.

“I saw the reserves draw with Chickerell United on Tuesday night and there are one or two players that can step in if needed.”
