PHIL Simkin has added a bit of Spanish flair to the Magpies’ squad ahead of this afternoon’s trip to AFC Hornchurch (3pm).
The Dorchester Town boss has signed Jon Garcia on registration forms and cannot wait to see how the left-midfielder acquits himself in Blue Square Bet South.
Simkin said: “We have signed a lad that has just come over from Spain.
“The chairman (Shaun Hearn) has a contact over there and it has come about through that.
“He is a left-midfielder in his early 20s and he has played most of his football in Spanish Division Two.
“He trained with the rest of the squad on Thursday night and he will be travelling to Hornchurch with us this afternoon.”
Simkin’s side have enjoyed a dream start to the season and he is hopeful Garcia will fit straight in.
He added: “Having played at such a good level, he already knows what it is all about and it will be interesting to see how he settles here.”
The Magpies currently sit second in Blue Square Bet South, level on points with league leaders Salisbury City, following a run of four successive victories.
