PHIL Simkin praised a “professional performance” by his troops as they secured their place in today’s FA Cup draw with a convincing victory.

The Magpies eased past Hellenic League outfit Wootton Bassett Town at the weekend with Jamie Reid scoring twice and Ben Watson and Nathan Walker also finding the net.

As a result, Dorchester Town are £4,500 better off and now await their opponents in the third qualifying round.

Boss Phil Simkin said: “It was an all-round professional performance. These games are not easy.

“It’s quite easy for them to put men behind the ball and for us to get frustrated and then get caught on the break. I’ve seen it all before.

“But we trained really well last week and we prepared well for the game.

“Quite frankly everything went to plan and we’re through to the next round of the cup. Hopefully we will get another home draw.”

Both defender Arran Pugh and winger Jon Garcia made their home debuts at the Greene King IPA Community, coming on as second-half substitutes.

Simkin added: “They came on and slotted in and did their jobs. Everything went to plan. I didn’t feel inclined to bring a third substitute on because I didn’t want to see us pick up an injury.”

The Magpies return to Blue Square Bet South action this Saturday with the visit of Welling United.
