Wimborne's revenge as county town exit Dorset & Wilts Cup

DORCHESTER were dumped out of the Dorset & Wilts Cup by neighbours Wimborne in emphatic style.
Right from the kick-off it was clear that the home side were the hungrier of the two teams, intent on gaining revenge after the previous week’s 28-10 defeat in the league.
Dorchester in contrast looked lethargic and disjointed, perhaps unsurprisingly due to the number of changes forced upon them.
Four tries in the first 15 minutes at Leigh Park effectively ended the game as a contest and, with confidence sky high, Wimborne ran riot.
They led 34-0 at the break and the second half was no better for the visitors.
Captain Dave Gower ran himself to a standstill and was rewarded with the county town side’s two tries but the hosts added five more tries themselves to inflict Dorchester’s worst defeat for six seasons.
Martin Oxland’s wounded troops face a difficult trip to Corsham this weekend and will need to improve greatly if they are to get anything from the visit to Wiltshire.
