Under-14 Division Two

BRIDPORT BEES 1 Dorchester TIGERS 3

OLYMPIC torchbearer Ben Macklin brought two torches – one from his sister – to training to inspire Dorchester Tigers to extend their winning run and climb to the top of the table.

The Tigers raced into an early lead against Bridport when Tom Foyle’s surging run led to a free-kick, which Kriss Radivojsa fired home from range.

Impressive wing-back play from Alex Horne led to a second goal for the visitors, with Horne drilling a low cross to Foyle whose shot was parried, only for Macklin to demonstrate a great poacher's instinct to fire home from 12 yards.

The Tigers moved further ahead after constant first-half pressure won a corner, which was taken quickly by Radivojsa who found the industrious Foyle to extend the lead with a good finish for the third goal.

Bridport fought back with some fine football, scoring a deserved goal before half-time.

The second half was tightly fought with both teams creating openings but the Bees were denied by superb goalkeeping with Andrew Ennals ensuring the Tigers maintained a two-goal cushion.

Cameron Dalgleish and Tom Mead both had shots on target saved by the Bees’ keeper and Chris Ninham was unlucky when his header was cleared off the line by a Bridport defender.

Man of the match Foyle continued with good interplay throughout the match down the left-hand side and went close with two shots in the final stages.
