STUART Heath has urged the Magpies to put last night’s 4-0 defeat behind them and turn their attentions to Saturday’s FA Cup encounter.

Dorchester came out second best in their top-of-the-table clash at Salisbury City, falling to their heaviest defeat since the opening day of last season.

But Phil Simkin’s assistant is calling on the county town players to draw a line under the disappointment and instead focus their energy on bouncing back against Basingstoke.

He said: “We will take it on the chin and thoughts now turn to Saturday, which is an important game for the club as a whole.

“We have to dust ourselves down and get ourselves right, both mentally and physically. We need to learn from such mistakes and come back stronger.

“We will all take responsibility for the defeat and we will help and encourage each other in the build-up to Saturday.

“If we do that, then with a good crowd behind us we have every chance of getting a good result.”

Despite last night’s loss at the hands of the Whites, the Magpies remain second in the table.

Heath added: “The players have been fantastic so far this season and they’ve done themselves, the club and the town proud with the position they have got themselves in. We must make sure we don’t waste that start.”
