Dorchester’S Bradley King returned from Germany with a gold medal following his efforts at the International Six Day Enduro (ISDE).

The ISDE is an event which sees more than 500 of the world’s best riders compete against each other for individual and national team honours.

King was competing for the St George’s club team and went with the aim of achieving a gold medal award for finishing within 10 per cent of the class winner’s time.

Each of the first five days consisted of over eight hours riding before the last day was a final supermoto race at the Sachsenring road race circuit, which also hosts Moto GP races.

The German public came out in their tens of thousands to support the event and King started with a couple of shaky special tests before settling in and finishing day one 21st in the C1 class.

Hoping to push his way into the top 20, the county town man’s second day started with some excellent test times only to have two poor tests at the end of the day, leaving him 20th.

Days three and four offered a new course for the riders, but unfortunately King failed to gel with the new special tests at first and dropped back to 21st.

The last full day of racing once again gave the riders three new special tests.

King picked up the pace as the fifth day went on until a crash at the start of the second lap bent his handlebars and gave him a severe dead leg.

The Dorchester rider plugged away and consolidated his position in 21st.

The final supermoto race provided a party atmosphere for the riders, teams and the 20,000 spectators.

Despite a slow start, King cruised round the track to complete the race and ensure he bagged himself a gold medal.

King said: “It was a great feeling crossing the finish line and being greeted by some of the people that have given me such help these past weeks and months.

“It was a tough week but I enjoyed it and it was a great experience. I was a little disappointed by my riding on a fair few of the tests but I was delighted to stay on time all week.

“I owe my gold medal to all my friends and family who put so much time and effort into helping me achieve my goal.

“I’m also grateful to my sponsors K4 Offroad, Talon, Michelin, Steve Plain Motorcycles, Gaerne, Akrapovic, Farmeasy, Rogershill Raceway and Kriega.”

King’s next event is the Weymouth Beach motocross on October 14.
