DORCHESTER Town Reserves saw their three-game winning streak in the Wyvern Premier League come to an end at AFC Portchester.

The Magpies went down 3-0 but the final scoreline did not reflect the county town outfit’s efforts against a side that included five first-teamers.

Town boss Dave Kiteley said: “They had a strong team out and deserved the victory but 3-0 was a little harsh on us.

“The most disappointing thing was the first 20 minutes when they would have been out of sight had it not been for a couple of outstanding saves from Dan Floyd.

“They did manage to score one in that time but as the half wore on we then started to get into it and were unfortunate not to get back level after hitting the crossbar and going close with a free-kick.

“We then totally dominated the start of the second half but again we failed to take our chances and in the end got punished.

“Josh Tennant then won a penalty but put it over the bar before they grabbed a third in injury-time.

“Despite the result though, there were still a lot of positives we could take from it.

“Not only did we compete to the end but I also thought some of the youngsters did exceptionally well, particularly Aston Butcher, Will Gape and Josh, who all had very good games.”

Kiteley’s men return to action next Wednesday when they host Alton Town in the Wyvern Challenge Cup (7.45pm).

Magpies: Floyd, Beal (Carlile 46), Kimber, Dimment (Vallier 75), Butcher, Gape, Twyford (Old 80), Taylor, Tennant, Godfrey, Garcia.
