THE Men’s October Medal took place with 71 starters on a dry and pretty much wind-free morning, writes Peter Crowter.

The favourable conditions produced some steady scoring with 15 players carding a nett score of 72 or less.

The leading scores in all three divisions were in the 60s.

Ed Cary topped Division One with 69 and this was bettered by two shots by the leader of Division Two, Doug Miners with 67.

Both men received a one-shot handicap cut.

However, the winner on the day came from Division Three where Taff Golding came in with the excellent score of 65, earning him a two-shot handicap reduction.

An unusual feat was acc-omplished by Kevin Jones who carded three twos.
