WEYMOUTH RESERVES 1

SHERBORNE TOWN RESERVES 0

CHUCKY Taylor grabbed the winner for Weymouth Reserves as they sealed back-to-back victories for the first time this season in the Magna Dorset Premier League.

The powerful striker got the game’s only goal on 61 minutes and his side could have had more with Liam Greatrex firing a free-kick against the crossbar and Adam Frame being denied by a fine save.

Sherborne Town Reserves rarely threatened going the other way with Jamie Perry enjoying a quiet game in the home goal.

Weymouth joint-boss Jake Richmond said: “It was 1-0 but we could have had two or three to be honest.

“We set up to be hard to break down and in the first half there wasn’t a lot in it.

“Jamie had one fairly routine save to make from distance but that was about it while Chucky missed a great chance for us at the other end.

“We then had the wind behind us after the break and must have had 70 per cent of the play in their half.

“It was all us and we created a lot of good chances with their keeper pulling off a couple of fine saves.

“We then finally got the breakthrough just after the hour when Sean Zima slipped in Chucky, who tapped the ball home from close range.

“Adam and Liam then nearly went on to a grab a second for us and overall it was just another pleasing performance.”

Richmond went on to add: “We have got a bit more balance in the side now.

“With Adam Anstey and Ben Doidge at the heart of the defence and Liam and Luke Winsper in the middle of the midfield, we have got a solid spine now and I think that is also helping the youngsters to express themselves around it.

“The only disappointing thing was that Ashley Batchelor and Chucky both had to come off with injuries but hopefully they are not too serious.”

Matt Morley had another impressive game for the Terras. Richmond said: “He has been fantastic in the last four matches in a row and hopefully he can keep that consistency going.

“His electric pace makes him a huge threat going forward but what I also like about him is that he works hard the other way too and always tracks back.

“He has actually been carrying a bit of a knock just recently so for him to go out and put in another good performance like that was excellent.”
