POOLE TOWN 3 WEYMOUTH 0

WEYMOUTH crashed out of the first round of the Red Insure Cup for the third year in succession last night following a 3-0 defeat at Tatnam.

Sam Wilson put Poole Town ahead before the Terras were reduced to 10 men on 35 minutes when Lewis Clarke was dismissed for a second yellow card.

From then on it was always going to be an uphill struggle for the visitors and so it proved as Adam Kelly went on to double the lead before Wilson grabbed his second.

Terras’ boss Brendon King said: “We started brightly but they then grabbed a goal before Lewis then picked up a second yellow. His first one was ridiculous because there was nothing in it at all.

“They then had a few lads booked who went on to do a lot worse but nothing was done and the fact there was no consistency was a little disappointing.

“In the second half we then came out and played some good stuff but as we pushed to try and get an equaliser they grabbed a second and then a third late on.

“It was disappointing but the main thing now is Hitchin Town at home on Saturday which is a much more important game for us.”

Terras: Povall, Clarke, Walker, Reed, Poole (McConnell 46), Palmer, Duff, Clay (Critchell 70), Joyce, Ford (Doidge 46), Smith. Subs not used: Evans, Groves.
