SERITA Shone enjoyed a successful return to British bobsleigh training a year after a career-threatening injury.

Last October, the 23-year-old was left with a broken back following a horrific crash in Germany.

But 12 months on, the Wey-mouth brake-woman was back on the Bath University push-start track and is now eyeing the next stage of her welcome return.

Discussing her first day back, Shone told Echosport: “It went really well thankfully – it was a positive day.

“It was my first time back on the push-track since my accident and I think a few people were a bit nervous that something might go wrong. But nothing did thankfully.

“I will be looking to put some more time in on the push track and then hopefully in the next few months I will be able to get back on the ice.

“It’s all about putting everything into practice and once I get everything under control I will be back on the ice again. It’s all up to me now as to how far I go.”
