BRIDPORT  4
RADSTOCK TOWN 2

RYAN Dovell bagged all four goals as Bridport recorded a first league win in two months.

The Bees prevailed 4-2 at St Mary’s Field with their star striker taking his tally to six goals in his last two games.

And boss Trevor Senior hailed his side’s performance as their best of the campaign thus far.

He said: “It was a very good result as Radstock are a decent side and I don’t know how they are down where they are – they are definitely better than a bottom-three team.

“That was our best performance of the season. We played really well, we were good going forward and it was a good team effort.

“That’s now two good games on the trot.”

Radstock had enjoyed the better of the play in the opening quarter of an hour but soon found themselves trailing courtesy of Dovell’s deflected effort.

And the lead was doubled just five minutes later with Dovell beating gloveman Gary Stevens to a ball over the top.

Isaac Reid halved the deficit with a fine solo effort and 2-1 was how it stayed heading into the break.

Both sides traded blows in the second period with Ben Clarke and Russell Legg both going close for the Bees.

But eventually their two-goal cushion was restored with 18 minutes to go as Dovell completed his hat-trick.

The former Dorchester Town man was then denied by the woodwork before the points were finally sealed as Bridport’s man of the match headed home goal number four.

There was still time for Josh Reid to curl home a late consolation for Radstock, but the damage had been done. In fact, Bridport could even have added to their tally with Chris Luke seeing a late drive come back off the crossbar.
