THE Magpies’ reward for reaching the FA Cup first round proper for the first time in four years is a home tie with Plymouth Argyle.

Saturday’s 3-1 victory over nine-man Bury Town has handed Dorchester Town a date with the Npower League Two Pilgrims on the weekend on November 3-4.

And county town boss Phil Simkin is relishing the opportunity.

He told Echosport: “We are delighted to get a home draw but to also get Plymouth is the icing on the cake.

“They had 6,000 people at their home game on Saturday and I’m hoping a few of those will arrive on our doorstep.

“It’s a West Country derby and we are pretty confident we can give them a game.”

Reflecting on Saturday’s triumph, Simkin admitted his side underperformed but was quick to praise the efforts of the Ryman Premier League high-fliers.

He added: “Everyone thought that because they are from a lower league it would be easy, but I knew full well it wouldn’t be.

“I thought they were an excellent side and as good as any side we have played this season. They moved the ball well and they are going to be a force over the next few years.

“We didn’t play very well but what we always do is dig in. We fought, we worked and we grafted.”

On the subject of the two dismissals, Dorchester’s manager said: “They felt aggrieved by what happened but I can’t see why.

“The number seven (Luke Ingram) took a swing at someone and the second (Tom Bullard) was an awful tackle on Jamie Symes and there was only ever going to be one outcome.

“I have no sympathy for them as far as that’s concerned as the red cards were totally justified.”
