WEYMOUTH Sailing Club (WSC) enjoyed a turnout of more than 20 Merlin Rocket dinghies at their recent open event. The host club was well represented and fielded a strong team of five boats.

The weekend saw very light winds, especially on the Saturday, which meant there was a delayed start to the racing. Eventually there was sufficient breeze for them to launch in the late afternoon.

The postponement did give some of the competitors an opportunity to sample the delights of Waterfest.

Sunday yielded slightly more favourable conditions earlier in the day.

Mike and Penny Fenwick of WSC clearly enjoyed the conditions as the duo finished in third place.

Not far behind them was Sam and Megan Pascoe (WSC) in eighth. Improving with every race, Mark and Rima Bugler (WSC) put in a good effort and finished 13th.

Also competing among the fleet were regular WSC racers, Robin and Mike Clifton Day and Phil and Ali Ashworth who said how much they had enjoyed the racing.
