CASTLE Cove Sailing Club member and Olympic coach Jon Emmett, above, clinched the Laser Masters Inland Championship title in Oxford with a race to spare.

The two-day event held at Oxford Sailing Club attracted more than 45 Laser dinghies split into Standard and Radial rig fleets.

The forecast had been for very wild weather, but in the end the wind did not go over 20 knots.

Emmett, competing in the Radial fleet, won the first race by a big distance after a flying start.

And he delivered another great performances by winning the second race as well.

Emmett thrived in the shifty conditions and claimed victory in the final race of the first day to put him clear at the top of the leaderboard.

Sailors were greeted by thick fog on day two although it quickly burnt off and the wind increased enough to race.

Just like the previous day, Emmett took another race win, meaning he had already won the title with one race to go.

Despite this, Emmett still went all out in the last race and duly finished first in that too.

It was a good result for Emmett and another title to add to his list of achievements this season.

They include the Laser Masters European Championship crown, the Laser Masters World Championship trophy and the UK National Championship title.
