TALL ship Pelican, operated by the charity Adventure Under Sail, has announced a fundraising collaboration with a Weymouth restaurant.
As of April 10, Il Porto Restaurant, located at Brewer’s Quay in Hope Square, will be making an addition to their menu – Pizza Pelican.
And the restaurant’s chefs are looking for young people from Weymouth and Portland to offer their suggestions for what should be on it.
Mimmo DePaolo, one of the brothers who own Il Porto, said: “We’ll celebrate our second birthday on April 10.
“We have been thinking of a way to give something back to the community that has been so supportive and key to the success of Il Porto over the last two years.
“We are looking for suggestions for a new pizza and are holding a competition for young people aged 12-25 years to create that pizza.”
The winner, their family and friends will be treated to a VIP access-all-areas tour of the TS Pelican.
One pound from every Pizza Pelican sold will go to Adventure Under Sail.
Becky Simmons, marketing and fundraising officer for Adventure Under Sail said: “We are extremely grateful to Il Porto for this fantastic fundraising idea.
“Donations from sales will go towards helping young people join us for sailing experiences and maintenance of the ship.”
The competition closes at midnight on Friday, April 3. For details email ilportomanager@hotmail.com
