THE first British Slalom Association event of the season proved to be a great success for many Weymouth windsurfers as it took place at the Official Test Centre.

Although the wind was light on the first day, the forecast was for good wind on the second. But when the day arrived, the conditions were sporadic and changeable, resulting in challenging conditions.

There were three main classes – the Masterblaster fleet, the Amateur fleet and the Pro fleet.

In the Masterblaster fleet, Weymouth youngsters dominated. Reed Russell stormed away with the title, achieving 23 race wins.

Following in second place was Tyler Baker, and James Faley finished in third.

Meanwhile, in the Amateur fleet, another young local talent led the way.

Scotty Stallman, 13, gave the standout performance of the weekend as he claimed victory in a fleet which fielded a total entry of more than 28 competitors.

Another junior competing in the fleet was Sam Anstey, who had moved up from the Masterblaster fleet. He finished 19th.

In the Pro fleet, local talent also achieved some good results with Kev Greenslade finishing in third place and Si Pettifer was placed in fourth.

Tom Wells, 18, finished in a very respectable seventh.

It was a set of fantastic results for the Weymouth windsurfers.

The next competition will be held at Hayling Island this weekend and competitors are hoping for some strong winds and some good results from the Weymouth contingent.
