THREE Weymouth Merlin Rocket dinghies took part in the recent Merlin Rocket Silver Tiller open event.
The one-day event was held at Rutland Sailing Club and attracted a fleet of 30 boats.
Prior to the day of racing, there were two days of extremely beneficial coaching Sam Pascoe and Sam Mottershead clearly thrived in the conditions achieving two first places and a third place.
This put them at the top of the leaderboard and overall winners of the event.
The pairing was organised at the last minute as Pascoe’s usual partner, his sister Megan, was away competing on Lake Garda.
Two other Weymouth Sailing Club boats, with Mark and Rima Bugler and Phil and Ali Ashworth at the helm, also attended the event.
The Buglers were placed in 22nd whilst the Ashworths finished in 24th.
