THERE are nine days to go until Bart’s Bash takes place on Sunday, September 20.

The global sailing event is the world’s largest and already there are clubs registered from more than 50 different countries.

It is held in memory of Andrew Simpson, multiple Olympic sailor who died when training for the America's Cup Race.

The money raised is used to encourage youngsters to sail.

In the area, the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, Castle Cove Sailing Club, Weymouth Sailing Club and Chesil Sailability will all be taking part in the event.

Like last year, a number of boats from Poole Yacht Club will be taking part.

It is hoped that the money raised and the number of global entries will top that of the inaugural event last year and it should provide a great spectacle in Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay.
