CASTLE Cove Sailing Club held its AGM annual meeting last week where a new commodore was appointed.

After three years of holding the position, Richard Bowers stood down as commodore and Stephen Green, an already long-standing member took his place.

Other changes took place in the general committee this year and everyone is very excited about taking up their new roles.

Neil Stroud, a member of the club, said: “The big news for next year is the focus on our members.

“The club has a real passion for getting people involved on the water, whether experienced or novice, it makes no difference.

“We would also like to encourage new membership throughout the year with open days to keep the club lively.

“With this in mind, the club this year has reduced its joining fees for 2016, so if your New Year’s resolution is to try something different or revisit something you did years ago, this could be the chance for you.

“We aim to be a welcoming club which is also family-friendly. “Youngsters are catered for through an active cadet programme.

“As a member of the club, there are opportunities throughout the season to sail with others, both in dinghies and keelboats.

“Many social events and briefing and training sessions also take place throughout the year.”
