A SUCCESSFUL Weymouth windsurfer is in the running for a prestigious award.

Kevin Greenslade has been nominated for the UK Windsurfing Association's Windsurfer of the Year award.

He has been recognised for his outstanding achievements in the discipline of speed sailing alongside four other windsurfers from different disciplines.

This year, Greenslade achieved the highest speed to take the overall win at Weymouth Speed Week making it his fifth British championship win. The event attracted contestants from all over the world and the competition was fierce.

Windsurfing has always been close to the heart of Greenslade and he remembers insisting on being taken to Weymouth Speed Week as a child to collect autographs.

Despite having many creditable performances, Greenslade works full-time to support his family and his windsurfing efforts. In the past, he also shared his considerable knowledge and skills with other young people who learnt a lot from him.

Voting is only open for a short period of time and will need to have been submitted by Wednesday, December 30. The winner will be announced in the first week of January 2016.

In order for Greenslade to receive this award he so richly deserves, votes for the windsurfer will need to be placed at ukwindsurfing.com/woty
