WEYMOUTH and Portland Sailing Academy is set the host the first World and European Qualifying event of 2017.

The competition, run by the UK Laser Association, takes place on the weekend of February 18 and 19, and is the fourth event of the qualifying campaign, with three previous stages being held in the autumn 2016 and two more being set to take place later this year.

This includes another event to be held in Weymouth and Portland on the weekend of March 11 and 12.

Successful competitors will qualify for the World and European Championships.

It should be an exciting event, filled with many top sailors, including youth sailors and GB’s future Olympic representative who should also be in attendance.

The Weymouth & Portland Sailing academy has been chosen to host these prestigious events due to its prime sailing location and its reputation for hosting high profile events, including the majority of sailing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Entries are still be accepted for the event with a deadline of 23:59 on February 15 for those looking to take part.
