WEYMOUTH windsurfer Ellie Wilcox enjoyed an outstanding success at the RYA Eric Twiname Championships held at Rutland Sailing Club.
The Budmouth College student competed in Rutland on consecutive weekends, claiming first-placed girl in the Techno 6.8m class.
Alton Water’s Zack Chandler beat Wilcox to first place overall, with team-mate Lewis Limm finishing in third on a tie-break.
Wilcox had earlier secured second-placed girl in the same class at the UK Windsurfing Association Regional Championships in Whitwell.
Last year, the talented youngster was selected for the British Youth Sailing team and is currently training to compete in July’s Techno European Championships in France, before aiming for the World Championships in Spain.
The South East Zone were victorious at the Eric Twiname Championships, their first since 2014, and were also crowned as winners of the Eric Twiname Dinghy Trophy after finishing first zone in the Optimist and Topper classes.
