TAKE a look at these fresh faces from Portland Gig Rowing Club who will be competing in a beard-growing competition.
The fundraising members of the community club will be unveiling their hairy new appearances at the Start of Season charity dinner on Saturday, March 24.
Tickets are available for the event, which is being held at the Wyke Smugglers and will include a performance by the Thornlow School sea shanty choir, ‘the piping in of the pasty’ and a five-course meal.
After dinner, the judging of the beard growing competition will be held.
Chairman of the club Dave Ferris said: “The Court of Judge Jeffries will be in session and the evening will be completed by an after-dinner speech by Rupert Fowke, headmaster of Thornlow School.
“The beard growing final will also be judged by Rupert’s good lady wife.
“The meal is five courses with a glass of bucks fizz on entry.”
He added: “This is Portland Rowing Club’s main fundraiser this year, everyone who fancies a fun night out is most welcome.”
Tickets for the meal cost £22.50 each and include a half bottle of wine and a glass of Bucks Fizz on arrival, call Dave on 07854 953606.
Would-be rowers are also welcome to contact Dave about opportunities to join the club.
