PORTLAND’S Olympic silver medallist Stuart Bithell and rising Paralympic star Megan Pascoe are among the top sailors competing in Lyme Regis this week.

Fast and furious racing in the Selden Merlin Rocket National Championships began last Sunday and is scheduled to end today.

Fortuneswell ’s Pascoe, 25, described the 14-foot sailing dingy event as a veritable ‘who’s who’ of British sailing.

She said: “It’s good and we’re doing quite well considering the competition.”

The sailing, held daily between 11am and 3pm, can be viewed from the Cobb and the seafront.

Bithell has swapped his 470 dinghy to team up in the Merlin Rocket with Christian Birrell – the brother of Paralympian Niki Birrell .

The dynamic duo won the 2010 National Championship in Penzance and hope to repeat their success in Lyme Regis.

However, they face stiff competition from defending 2011 champion Andy Davis and multiple national and world champion helms Nick Craig and Geoff Carveth.
