LONG-STANDING chairman Tim Kingman has returned to the coaching ranks at Weymouth Basketball Club.

The stalwart will return to the sidelines after head coach and club development officer Alex Fuhrmann stepped down from his role as second team coach.

Kingman said: “It’s a real pleasure to get back into the coaching ranks of the basketball club after so many years away from the sidelines.

“I’m really lucky that Alex and Che Osborne have established strong team morals in their respective teams and will do my best to serve the players, club and make the town proud of our achievements.”

Fuhrmann added: “As far as this decision goes, it was completely mutual across the board.

“I’ve recently become a qualified teacher and the pressure of gaining a position and completing my first year, was weighing on my mind.

“I’m really happy that Tim is able to succeed me and the guys are able to get a coach with a wealth of experience.

“I will continue to coach the under-16s and focus on youth development.”

Over the past year, basketball has been an ever-growing sport in the area with the town being represented by eight different teams.

There have been other changes within the club as ladies’ coach Che Osborne has stepped down to focus on solely coaching the Weymouth first team.

He will be succeeded by King-man and current third-team coach Andy Blackwood who will share the duties.

The club have filled most of their coaching positions, though would welcome any volunteers from the community who may be interested in taking up coaching or are willing to get involved with a growing community project.
