DORSET’S miserable season came to an abrupt end at Dean Park yesterday with a 10-wicket thrashing by Wales.
The heavy defeat ensured Alan Willows’ side finished bottom of the Minor Counties Championship Western Division without a win from their six games.
The writing was on the wall for Dorset after the first innings in Bournemouth as the Welshmen compiled 339 in reply to Dorset’s 175 – Masoor Khan and Mark Wolstenholme both made 54 for the hosts.
And there wasn’t much fight left in the Dorset ranks when they batted again, only Sam Thomson with an unbeaten 53 showing any resistance to the Wales attack.
It took just 15 balls for Sean Griffiths and Rhodri Evans to knock off the 10 runs required and complete a summer to forget for Dorset.
