TOM Hicks claimed seven scalps in total on day one of Dorset’s Unicorns Counties Championship clash with Herefordshire, where a staggering 21 wickets fell in total at Eastnor.

The former county skipper returned figures of 6-45 off of 19 overs in the first innings, despite taking the field with a reported broken finger, as the hosts slumped to an unflattering total of 151 off 57 overs.

All 10 Herefordshire scalps were taken by Dorset’s spinners first time around, with Bashley’s Sam Thomson claiming 3-24 and vice-captain Jake Lintott grabbing the opening scalp with the score on 64.

But in response, Dorset also struggled with the bat and slumped to 120 all out off just 45.4 overs with Herefordshire’s left-arm-spinner Bradley Wadlan taking 6-27.

Hicks claimed another victim with the final ball of the day as the home side closed on 20-1 in their second innings, leading by 51 runs.
