SNOOKES Pirates and Casuals have been toasting title successes after both clinched top spot in their divisions during the past week.

Pirates, new to the league this season, won Division Two at the first attempt as they beat Framp-ton and Hazelbury Bryan lost to Plush.

Will Howes made 41 in Hazelbury Bryan’s total of 125 but Plush, with Roger Edmunds blasting an unbeaten 75, eased to victory by six wickets.

Meanwhile, Michael Irrgang (74no) was on top form for Pirates in their demolition of Frampton.

Chas Duerdoth scored 60 in Frampton’s 171-5, but Pirates secured the title without losing a wicket in their run chase.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Abbotsbury are set for relegation following a 30-run defeat to Cerne Valley.

Replying to Cerne’s 154-3, a knock of 67 from Marcus Evans was the highlight of Abbotsbury’s 124-9 – M Collinge took 4-23 for Cerne.

And Adam Barrett hit an unbeaten half-century to help Puddletown see off Plush by 44 runs.

As for Casuals, emphatic wins against Charlton Down Seconds and Puddletown Reserves gave them the Division Three crown.

They were also helped by a win for Puddletown Reserves over closest rivals Cattistock Sec-onds.

Pete Moxom starred for Casuals in both of their victories, hitting a fine 101 not out as they saw off Charlton Down by 69 runs – James Dunham also took 3-32 – and then contributing 66 against Puddletown Reserves.

Casuals made 198-4 batting first before 3-28 from O Osbourne limited the Reserves to 137-8.

However, there was some joy for the Reserves when they got the better of rock-bottom Puddle-town RFC, while Richard Bur-dett’s 3-5 guided Cosmos to a win over Winfrith.

St George’s remain in first place in Division One after overcoming Martinstown by eight wickets, Andy Legg keeping up his fine form with 79.

Dewlish, two points behind having played a game more, beat Charlton Down and Bere Regis kept their slim title hopes alive following a defeat of Cattistock.
