POOLE v WEYMOUTH

WEYMOUTH will be out to spoil a Poole party tomorrow in their penultimate Premier One fixture of the campaign (1pm).

Poole only need a couple of points to wrap up the league title and are expecting a big crowd to help them celebrate what they hope is going to be a memorable day.

The Seasiders’ chances of championship glory are long gone, however, chairman John Ryan reckons his team can use the encounter at Poole Park (1pm) to show what they are capable of.

Poole are overwhelming favourites on paper having won their last five, while Weymouth’s recent form isn’t the best – they have lost their last four.

Hosts Poole also won the previous two meetings bet-ween the sides very convincingly.

“There is no pressure on us,” said Ryan. “They are going to win the league which means that we can enjoy ourselves as well. It’s a chance for us to show a decent crowd that we are still a good side.”

If Weymouth want to cause an upset they will have to do it without skipper Kieron Womble, Will McKay and Dan Hutchens.

Former captain Matt Lawes takes charge this week and Dean Janaway, Jim Ryall and Harry Tucker are all back in the fold.

“We’re playing for pride and hopefully some people can stand up with the bat and some with the ball,” said Lawes.
