SHERBORNE v DORCHESTER

DORCHESTER take on Sherborne for the fourth time this season tomorrow knowing that defeat will spell the end of their Premier Two title hopes.

The county town outfit are without Pete Moxom, Will Caldwell and Stuart Beasley for the crunch clash (1pm), but skipper Dan Belt is confident the players coming in won’t let the side down.

Fergus Guppy returns to the top order, all-rounder Mike Peake steps up from the seconds, and spinner Shaun Little is back having missed the victory at Bere Regis last time out.

Sherborne currently hold an 11-point advantage over Dorchester at the summit and a win would guarantee them the title and promotion to Premier One.

It will be Dorchester’s job to take the championship race to the last weekend of the season when they travel to Martinstown and Sherborne host Bere Regis.

“It’s a huge game and we’re all looking forward to it,” said Belt. “And we’ve got to go there and win.

“The players know what is required of them and I shouldn’t need to get them geed up for a game like this.

“Pete, Will and Stuart are all going to be a big miss for us but Fergus, Mike and Shaun will add something to the team.

“Every time Will has played for us this season he has batted well and Pete always adds a lot of experience to the team.”

Sherborne have come out on top twice in the three previous meetings between the sides this season, with the other game being cancelled.

Belt feels Dorchester haven’t had the best of luck against tomorrow’s opponents in 2014, but he knows his side can’t rely on something like that in a pressure situation.

He added: “We’ve had a couple of things go against us which have affected the team.

“But we have to try and win the game with our skills rather than relying on luck.

“Sherborne are a very good team, you can’t take that away from them, but at the same time we feel like we can beat them.”

Martinstown’s chances of silverware are over following four successive losses and they entertain Bere Regis tomor- row.
