CAPTAIN Chris Park is relishing the prospect of starting his side’s competitive schedule when Dorset’s Unicorns Knockout Trophy campaign begins tomorrow (11am).

Cornwall are the visitors to Bournemouth for the Dean Park outfit’s first group contest, a side they overcame in three-day action last August.

Pre-season wins against Wiltshire and the Hampshire second XI also give keeper-batsman Park confidence, but he is taking nothing for granted.

He told Echosport: “The mentality changes and the competitive edge comes into it now.

“I won’t be messing about with bowling changes and batting roles. Now is where our season starts properly.

“We are looking forward to it and fingers crossed we can beat Cornwall again like we did at the end of last season at Dean Park.

“Home advantage counts and plays into our hands, the lads are feeling confident and positive.”

As well as Cornwall, Dorset line up against the likes of Wiltshire, Devon and Wales in Group One of the competition.

“You have four games in the group and we need to win three of them really,” Park claimed.

“We do need to improve our one-day cricket — that is one of our main aims this season.”
