DORSET captain Chris Park hailed the performance of young leg spinner Jem Warner after he performed admirably on his competitive Minor Counties debut at Wiltshire.

Despite the Dean Park outfit suffering defeat, Warner returned match figures of 2-30 from his 10 overs and came into the attack inside the power plays after the hosts got off to a flyer in the second innings at Warminster.

The youngster, who also claimed a hat-trick of awards in the Dorset youth ranks last term, was praised by Park, who hinted that Warner could feature more prominently in selection throughout the summer.

“For Jem to bowl 10 overs on his debut inside power plays against a very good batting line-up was remarkable,” the Dorset captain told Echosport.

“He did himself proud and loved every single minute of it.

“He actually batted well at number 11 as well to help us get to the total we got, he can be very proud of himself for sure.

“Jem has really put his hand up and stepped up to the Minor Counties cricket mark and I am looking forward to seeing him a lot more this summer now. He has definitely staked his claim for a place.”

Skipper Park also hinted that there will be changes to the Dorset squad when they host Devon at Dean Park on Sunday (11am) before taking on Hampshire in t20 action the following day.
