HAMPSHIRE 167-5 (20 overs) beat DORSET 100-6 (17.0 overs) on run rate

DORSET captain Chris Park took a number of positives from what was a special day for his side at Dean Park.

A star-studded Hampshire line-up showcased their skills in front of a good crowd in Bournemouth, but the home side more than held their own before their innings was cut short by the weather.

Winning the toss and batting first, Hampshire racked up a total of 167-5 from their 20 overs, which included 76 in 59 balls from Jimmy Adams.

Dorset seamer James Hayman made an impact with the ball, returning 2-24 from his four overs, including the wickets of Adams and Michael Carberry.

Swanage’s Jem Warner also impressed with an economical 1-18, including the scalp of Owais Shah.

In reply, Masoor Khan continued his good form for the hosts with 36 from 38 deliveries at the top of the order.

England spinner Danny Briggs, Hampshire’s leading wicket-taker in t20s last summer, claimed 3-16 before the bad weather struck.

Speaking about the contest, Dorset captain Park said: “There was a good crowd in, the weather managed to hold up for 17 overs of our innings, and it was actually a very good game of cricket.

“We bowled very well and they batted fairly well, and we put on a fairly good show with the bat as well. It was better than I expected to be honest.

“After our defeat against Devon on Sunday it was all about getting some enthusiasm and team spirit back in the side and playing some good cricket against a professional side.

“Good luck to Hampshire and hopefully we have given them a decent run-out for their t20 campaign which starts soon.”
