DORSET 110 (19.3 overs) lost to CORNWALL 111-6 (16.1 overs) by 4 wickets

CAPTAIN Chris Park labelled Dorset’s Unicorns t20 defeat to Cornwall as “disappointing” after the loss of early wickets proved costly.

Batting first in the opening test of their regional qualifier in Exmouth, the returning Luke Webb (13) was the only member of the Dean Park side’s top six to reach double figures.

Michael Porter, fresh from a century for his club side the day before, did go on to top score with 35.

Dorset posted a modest 110 all out from 19.3 overs, a total which Cornwall knocked off with four wickets to spare – they then lost to Devon in the regional final.

Leg spinner Jem Warner was once again the pick of the bowlers for Park’s men, claiming 3-18 from four overs.

On his side’s reverse, the skipper said: “It was disappointing. We got caught a little bit cold in the first 10 overs and when you are 50-odd for six you just can’t recover.

“You need momentum and energy and it had been taken out of our sails in the first three or four overs.

“We were still in the game until the 16th over (of Cornwall’s innings) but Kelvin Snell smacked Jake Lintott for three sixes and a four in four balls.”

Dorset’s three-day campaign begins against Wiltshire at Dean Park on Sunday (11am).
