CAPTAIN Chris Park is welcoming a switch of focus for his Dorset squad as they get their Unicorns Championship Western Division campaign underway tomorrow (11am).

Wiltshire, who beat Dorset in one-day action earlier this summer, will travel to Bournemouth to lock horns with the Dean Park side over a scheduled three days.

With his charges enduring a dismal start to the campaign, Park is keen to start afresh in the game’s longer format.

“I am looking forward to the three-day stuff,” he told Echosport.

“We had a chat and agreed to draw a line under our one-day cricket and get our three-day heads on for a good second half of the season.

“It’s not a nice feeling to keep losing games of cricket and we need to fight as hard as ever to get a positive result against Wiltshire.

“Hopefully being together for three days will see our spirit come back. We are all positive cricketers, and good cricketers, and hopefully we can show that.”

Tom Hicks and leg spinner Jem Warner are both unavailable for Dorset, while Chris Jones is also likely to miss out, but Tom Smith is set to come back into the squad.

“As a captain I have always felt we are suited to the three-day format because of the make-up of our side,” Park added.
