WEYMOUTH will go to Stalbridge tomorrow (1pm) in their penultimate game as a Dorset Premier League outfit, looking to extinguish nightmares of the reverse fixture between the sides in June.

The Seasiders were bowled out for just 46 in 18 overs when the teams last met, with Stalbridge knocking off the required runs in only 5.4 overs.

All-rounder Simon Browne, who had to phone his wife and ask for the teas to be delivered early to Redlands on that disastrous day, is expected to return to the Weymouth squad in place of David Trotter, who is unavailable.

“There is a bit of a demon to exorcise there,” player-chairman John Ryan told Echosport.

“We are going there with a bit of a young and inexperienced side again, but the same group performed very well against Swanage last week.

“We are hoping to finish on a bit of a high by trying to edge one of these last two games.”

While they were put to the sword by Stalbridge last time out, Ryan believes the mix and matched Seasiders can still take heart from some of their performances this term.

He added: “We have been competitive in a lot of the games this year.

"We just haven’t had that final bit of quality to either chase down a score having been in a good position or have that extra bowling when a team is five or six wickets down to finish them off.”
